The authors are sceptical of the hype but open to the possibility: their conclusion is that the underlying technology could be as disruptive as the Internet, but that realising that potential depends on institutional, regulatory, and adoption factors that in 2015 were deeply uncertain. The inevitable critique: the speed of evolution in the crypto ecosystem means parts of the analysis have been superseded, and some predictions have proven wrong or premature.
